Map Blitz

A country's name pops up. Find it on the blank world map before the time runs out.

Seconds per country

How to play

  1. Pick how many seconds you get for each country, from 3 to 10.
  2. Press Play. After a 3, 2, 1, a country's name appears at the top.
  3. Click that country on the map before the bar runs out. Get it right and the next one comes at once. Get it wrong and the map shows you where it is.
  4. It keeps going until you press Stop (or Esc). Then you see how you did, and which countries you missed.

Questions

Which countries are in the game?

163 of the world's 195 countries. The smallest, like Singapore, Malta and many island nations, are on the map but never asked: nobody could hit them in a few seconds. The tiniest, like Monaco and Vatican City, are too small to show at all.

What counts as a hit?

A click on the right country, or in the sea just off its coast. A click on any other country, or anywhere else in the sea, is a miss.

How do streaks work?

Your streak is how many countries you've found in a row. Your best streak is kept in this browser, one for each timer, so 3 seconds and 10 seconds are never mixed up.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. Turn your phone sideways for a bigger map. It's made for a mouse, though: small countries are hard to tap with a finger.

Is it free?

Yes. No ads, no sign-up, nothing to download.

Where is the map from?

Natural Earth, a free, public-domain map of the world. Antarctica is left out, as it isn't a country.
